Mazda, Union Reach Pact: Mazda reached a new three-year labor pact with 2,900 union workers at its assembly plant in Flat Rock, Mich. The pact covers Mazda workers represented by the United Auto Workers union. A spokesman for Mazda, owned by Mazda Motor Corp. of Japan, said the new agreement is tentative and must be approved by union members before it becomes final.
