Taco Bell burritos and Carl’s Jr. cheeseburgers are joining the Dodger Dog in the food lineup at Dodger Stadium this season.

While Anaheim Stadium has offered a rich variety of foods for Angels fans for years, Dodger Stadium has been home to beer-and-hot-dog traditionalists. Not anymore. When the bats crack on opening day for the 1991 season, Anaheim-based Carl Karcher Enterprises and Taco Bell Corp. of Irvine will be among a new team of vendors trying to ring up sales. The stadium is also opening concessions for Pizza Hut and Carnation ice cream.

Barry Stockhamer, vice president of marketing for the Dodgers, said it was time for a change.

“Clearly, part of this is to meet changing needs, changing tastes,” he said. “We felt that we wanted to have greater variety in our menu. . . . The reception from the fans is going to be very positive and very upbeat.”
