Productivity Revised Upward Slightly: The nation’s non-farm work force was slightly more productive in the fourth quarter than originally estimated, the Labor Department said, but the revision did not alter the overall picture of recession. Non-farm productivity rose at a 0.3% annual rate instead of 0.1% as previously reported, the department said. The fourth-quarter rise followed a revised 0.6% increase in the third quarter. Overall productivity, which includes the farming sector, was revised to a 0.3% annual rate of decline instead of a 0.5% drop. Non-farm business productivity for all of 1990 remained down 0.8%.
