LA PALMA : Tree City Award Given for 2nd Year

Share

For the second consecutive year, La Palma has been named a Tree City USA by the National Arbor Day Foundation.

La Palma met the foundation’s four requirements to become a Tree City USA by having a tree board or department, a city tree ordinance, a community forestry program and an Arbor Day observance.

“Trees have long been recognized for the beauty and value they lend to our homes, neighborhoods, parks and business areas,” said John Rosenow, executive director of The National Arbor Day Foundation. “At the same time, those trees help clean the air and keep the atmosphere in balance.”

The program is sponsored by the National Arbor Day Foundation in cooperation with the U.S. Department of Agriculture Forest Service and the National Assn. of State Foresters.
