Lake View Terrace Got a Bum Rap

Share

I take offense at James Quinn’s sensational depiction of Lake View Terrace as a place where “drug dealers play cat and mouse with the police” and “horse ranches coexist with gangs and drugs.”

It’s as though he is saying conditions are such that the unfortunate beating of Rodney G. King would occur here.

Lake View Terrace is an area in transition upward, and the problems here are no worse than problems elsewhere in Los Angeles. The location of the incident is purely coincidental.

If Rodney G. King had been stopped sooner, maybe La Canada Flintridge would have gotten the publicity, or if he had turned right, maybe Pacoima.
