World IN BRIEF : NICARAGUA : Army Officer Held in Illegal Arms Deal

Nicaragua’s Sandinista army, under fire from the United States for allegedly aiding Central American guerrillas, has arrested the fifth officer this year in connection with illegal arms shipments, the military said. An army communique said a lieutenant based in northern Nicaragua has been arrested in connection with a shipment of rocket-propelled grenades and explosives found in a banana truck last month by Honduran authorities.
