From Staff and Wire Reports

The Rams signed kicker Tony Zendejas, left unprotected by the Houston Oilers, as a Plan B free agent Tuesday.

Zendejas, a six-year NFL veteran, fractured a fibula after kicking off in a game against New Orleans on Oct. 21 and didn’t play the rest of the season.

He made 20 of 21 extra points and seven of 12 field goals for the Oilers last season before he was hurt.

Zendejas, 30, spent two years with the Los Angeles Express of the USFL before going to the Oilers.

A native of Mexico who grew up in Chino, Calif., Zendejas originally was a first-round draft choice out of Nevada Reno. The Washington Redskins made him the 27th player selected in the 1984 NFL draft.
