Gen. Schwarzkopf

At his briefing on Feb. 27, Schwarzkopf showed the depth of his concern for his troops when he said that even one KIA (killed in action) is a heavy price to pay: He was struggling to keep his composure when he referred to the families of those who have been killed.

Gen. Schwarzkopf, in remarking on the incredibly low casualty figures among coalition forces, termed it “almost miraculous.” As hostilities end in Kuwait, we should reflect that perhaps a greater-than-human power was looking after our people. As we welcome home our young men and women, we should say a prayer of thanks to Almighty God for looking after them and for giving us such good men as Gen. Schwarzkopf.
