World IN BRIEF : PHILIPPINES : Imelda Marcos May Stand Trial at Home

Former First Lady Imelda Marcos may be allowed to return home as early as next month to face trial on corruption charges, a Cabinet official said. Marcos said in a statement released in Manila that she is ready to defend herself in court. President Corazon Aquino said the government is prepared to file charges but did not give a timetable. Marcos has been in exile in the United States since 1986.
