World IN BRIEF : THAILAND : Junta Announces National Assembly

The Thai military junta, which seized power in a coup last month, announced a new National Assembly dominated by soldiers. The Assembly will be charged with approving a new constitution paving the way for elections and the return of civilian rule. It includes some former members of Parliament as well as businessmen, technocrats and journalists. It has 292 members and will replace the Assembly dissolved as a result of the Feb. 23 coup, Radio Thailand said.
