Caltrans’ Games Won’t Work

Share

Stop playing games with Laguna Beach, Caltrans. Stop it, Transportation Corridor Agency.

We see through your recent attempts to bring us to our knees (i.e., accept the San Joaquin Transportation Corridor). Cutting down the outbound flow of traffic from Laguna Beach through Laguna Canyon by making one of the lanes at the El Toro Road intersection a “Right Turn Only” lane will not do it. Shortening the green light for traffic outbound from Laguna Beach--at the same intersection--will not do it. Making it much easier for traffic from El Toro Road, Moulton Parkway and Aliso Creek Road to access Laguna Canyon than for Laguna commuters will not do it.

We are resolute. We see through your games playing. We know you could have extensively widened Moulton Parkway’s access to the San Diego Freeway years ago if you had really wanted to provide access for commuters from Laguna Niguel and other points south of Laguna Beach.

We see through the dishonesty of a San Joaquin toll road “financing by developers.” Latest I heard is that the corridor agency will be borrowing from government funds (otherwise known as taxpayers’ money) to build this boondoggle for developers and the road lobby.

We have eyes; we have brains. Most importantly, we have hearts filled with a great love for the precious open space in Laguna Canyon.

We’re calling a foul; you’re out of the game!
