About 200 more Marines arrived in Orange County on Sunday as troops and equipment were flown into El Toro Marine Corps Air Station in the continuing stream of personnel and munitions returning from the Gulf War.

C-5 cargo planes arrived periodically throughout the day, each carrying as many as 40 Marine support personnel along with helicopters and other equipment, according to Marine Corps Lt. Paul Spragg.

For some of the arriving troops, Orange County was only a stopover, where they boarded buses to be transported to Twentynine Palms and Yuma, Ariz., he said. Others were met by family and loved ones at El Toro.

An airliner, expected to be carrying more than 200 Marines attached to the Marine Aviation Logistics squadron based at Camp Pendleton, was due to arrive at 12:55 a.m. today, with additional C-5 cargo planes scheduled later in the morning, Spragg said.
