French Minister Greeted With Jeers and Violence

ST. DENIS, Reunion —
Rioters looted shops and jeered French Prime Minister Michel Rocard as he visited the French Indian Ocean island of Reunion on Sunday to investigate bloody protests last month.
Witnesses said protesters blocked the road from the airport, forcing Rocard to change his route as he drove under heavy police escort. A television cameraman and two photographers were slightly injured and their equipment damaged, the witnesses said.
