COLLEGE ROUNDUP : UCI’s Tennis Team Upset by Clemson

After winning five consecutive matches, the UC Irvine men’s tennis team, ranked No. 20 in the nation, was upset by unranked Clemson, 5-4, Sunday at Irvine.

The Anteaters (10-4), who had defeated No. 19 Miami on Friday and No. 10 Kentucky on Saturday, led Clemson, 4-1, before Jeff Miyamoto was defeated by Chris Munnerlyn, 6-3, 3-6, 7-6. Clemson (7-6) then swept the doubles matches.

In another men’s tennis match:

Redlands 6, Southern California College 3--Greg Nations and Court Bickmore won in singles and the team of Finn Bell and Mark Merrick won in doubles, but SCC (4-9) lost at home.
