World IN BRIEF : BANGLADESH : President’s Widow New Prime Minister

Khaleda Zia, 46, widow of assassinated President Ziaur Rahman, was named the first woman prime minister of predominantly Muslim Bangladesh. Zia’s centrist Bangladesh Nationalist Party won 139 seats in the 300-seat Parliament in the Feb. 27 election.
