2 San Gabriel Scouts to Receive Awards

Two Eagle Scouts from San Gabriel will receive Silver Palm awards tonight at a special Boy Scouts of America Court of Honor.

Thomas Weber and David Hunter, both 18, will be acknowledged for earning 41 merit badges each. In the past two years, the San Gabriel Council Boy Scouts have produced 285 Eagle Scouts. Less than 2% of those who enter scouting reach the rank of Eagle, and in the past two years, only two in the San Gabriel Valley have earned the right to wear the Bronze and Silver palms, Scout officials said.

The ceremony will take place at the Church of Our Saviour, 535 W. Roses Road, San Gabriel, at 7:30 p.m.
