Risque ‘Flesh Gordon’ Sequel: An Intergalactic Disaster

Years ago, filmmaker Howard Ziehm had lots of fun with “Flesh Gordon,” an affectionate and risque spoof of the comic book/serial hero, but his sequel, “Flesh Gordon Meets the Cosmic Cheerleaders” (at the Nuart for one week) is disastrous, little more than an elaborate but tired old burlesque skit.

When radiation on a distant planet simultaneously renders its men impotent and its women sex-crazed, a group of its cheerleaders kidnap Flesh (champion kick boxer Vince Murdocco), who then has a series of adventures that are neither erotic or funny.

Indeed, the film’s NC-17 rating is for its coarse, stale humor rather than sex (of which there is very little) and nudity (restricted to bare bosoms).
