TAIWAN: Taiwan’s foreign investment during January and February soared more than 400% from the same period a year ago, to $681.7 million, according to the latest report from the government’s Investment Commission. The totals are the latest sign that more Taiwanese investors, faced with rising labor costs at home, are opting for opportunities abroad. The largest share of Taiwan’s investment during the period--$371 million--went to Malaysia. The Taiwanese invested only $19.1 million in Malaysia during the same period a year ago.
