BITTER POTIONS: The largest number of calls to the regional poison control center at UCI Medical Center (E1) deal with children gulping medicine not meant for them. The control center’s director, Dr. Richard Thomas, says cases include children in a bath downing shampoo or swallowing their parents’ cough medicine. . . . He says “about 20% of our calls come from health-care professionals,” the rest from the general public.
