UPI Misses Some Payments: The financially troubled news agency United Press International has failed to make severence payments owed to former employees who took early retirement or were laid off and to some suppliers, a company spokesman said. The company, which has been looking for a buyer since late last year, has not ruled out the possibility of a bankruptcy filing, spokesman Milt Capps said. UPI’s parent company, Infotechnology Inc., filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection earlier this month.
