Regulators End Great Western Reviews: The Beverly Hills thrift said in Securities and Exchange Commission documents that federal thrift and banking regulators “substantively completed” their review of its loan portfolio. Investors and analysts have worried that regulators would force Great Western to devalue its real estate portfolio because of the industry slowdown. But sources familiar with the results said Great Western will emerge unscathed. A Great Western spokesman declined to comment on the results, but he did say that anything material about the results would have been mentioned in the SEC documents.
