Big Board Cuts Policing Staff: The New York Stock Exchange has cut its regulatory staff by 13% in recent weeks, but exchange officials said investor protection would not be lessened. The NYSE and other U.S. stock exchanges are self-regulatory organizations that have broad policing powers under federal law. The exchanges in turn are overseen by the Securities and Exchange Commission.
