Paramount : Mulrooney Is Mayor for 3rd Time; Amaro Is Vice Mayor
In its annual reorganization, the Paramount City Council has selected Councilman Gerald A. Mulrooney as mayor.
It is Mulrooney’s third term as mayor. He has been on the council since 1980. He replaces Councilman Manuel A. Guillen in the largely ceremonial post.
The council chose Councilwoman Elvira Amaro as vice mayor. Amaro is serving her first term on the five-member council, having been elected last April. Amaro had been serving as acting vice mayor since December, replacing Allen J. Parker. Parker died in December of a heart attack.
