Wayne Taylor, driving a Chevrolet Intrepid prototype sports car, broke the track qualifying record in winning the pole position for today’s Nissan Grand Prix of Miami.

Taylor, who was born in South Africa and lives in England, toured the 1.873-mile, 11-turn downtown street circuit at 98.658 m.p.h., breaking Geoff Brabham’s year-old mark of 97.215.
