World IN BRIEF : SYRIA : 3 Dissident Groups Seek to Rejoin PLO
Three dissident Palestinian groups offered to rejoin Yasser Arafat’s Palestine Liberation Organization, abandoning an eight-year effort to topple his leadership and opening the way for a possible reconciliation between Arafat and Syria. The Palestine National Salvation Front--a coalition of Damascus-based factions including Fatah-Uprising, Saika and the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine-General Command--appealed for talks with Arafat. It also urged the Palestine National Council to select new leaders.
