Letters Back CBS Airing of ‘Absolute Strangers’

An estimated 2,000 letters supporting CBS’ scheduled Sunday airing of “Absolute Strangers” are on their way to prospective TV advertisers and thousands more will be sent by a coalition of Hollywood abortion-rights activists, led by the American Jewish Congress, says organizer Rabbi Laura Geller.

Geller, flanked by actors Richard Masur, David Dukes and Polly Bergen, announced the coalition’s counter-campaign against anti-abortion activists at a Wednesday press conference.

The Rev. Donald Wildmon’s American Family Assn. announced a letter-writing campaign three weeks ago, aimed at CBS and its advertisers.

“Absolute Strangers” dramatizes a real-life Long Island abortion case in which a husband fought anti-abortionists for the right to abort his comatose wife’s fetus in an attempt to save her life.
