Pete Weber became the second player in PBA history to win two Bowling Proprietors’ Assn. of America U.S. Opens with a 289-184 victory over Mark Thayer at Indianapolis.
Weber rolled past three opponents to get to the top-seeded Thayer. Weber opened with a spare and then threw 10 consecutive strikes, earning the $40,000 top prize. Thayer won $22,000.
