Eli Lilly & Co.: The Indianapolis pharmaceuticals maker reported record first-quarter sales of $1.44 billion, up 14% from the year-ago quarter. Revenue jumped 16% to a record $388.6 million. The company said a surge in sales in Europe and Japan was a key reason for the higher results.
