Boise Cascade Corp.: The forest products company reported a loss of $16.9 million for the first quarter, contrasted with a net income of $33.6 million for the year-ago period. The Boise, Ida.-based company had sales of $992.7 million for the first quarter, down from last year’s $1.1 billion. The company said the declining results were largely due to significant erosion in prices for most of the grades of paper it produces.
