SIMI VALLEY : Council Postpones Bus Route Changes

Share

The Simi Valley City Council on Monday postponed plans to expand city bus service to Wood Ranch and the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library and add stops to the industrial area in western portions of the city.

Concerned about added costs of a new bus line, council members asked the city staff to explore expanding an existing route rather than launching a new bus line.

The council also directed the staff to examine dropping service to Moorpark College to offset an anticipated increase in operating costs.

Council members have hoped to expand city bus service to help reduce traffic congestion and air pollution and help Simi Valley businesses meet new Ventura County requirements to encourage their employees to share rides or use mass transportation.

More than half of the residents at Wood Ranch said they would use bus service if it were available and convenient.
