Digital Equipment Enters Supercomputer Field: The computer maker said it bought a minority stake in Maspar Computer Corp. in an agreement that marked its entry into the market for so-called massively parallel computers. Massively parallel computers, considered the next wave in computer technology, string together thousands of microprocessors to work as one. The Maynard, Mass.-based Digital said it also planned to form a new unit to work with Maspar and other firms to develop software and applications.
