Woman Gets 6 Months in Nursing License Scam

Share

An Azusa woman was sentenced Tuesday to six months in jail for her part in an international scheme to falsify applications for people seeking California nursing licenses, authorities said.

Louise N. Siregar, 42, had pleaded guilty to felony charges of grand theft, forgery, perjury and filing false tax returns, said Deputy Dist. Atty. James E. Green. Her husband and the alleged mastermind of operation, Rusman Siregar, 44, is at large and may have returned to his native Indonesia, officials said.

An investigation by the state Department of Consumer Affairs found that the Siregars had allegedly falsified as many as 45 applications to the Board of Registered Nursing, most of them from foreign-born students who had responded to the Siregars’ worldwide advertisements. No licenses were issued based on the phony documents, said Susan Brank of the Board of Registered Nursing.
