Northrop Corp.: The aerospace company reported first-quarter earnings of $39.3 million, down from $96 million in the year-ago period. The Los Angeles-based company said last year’s earnings included a $67.1-million gain from the sale of its headquarters. Sales were $1.25 billion, down slightly from last year’s $1.28 billion.
