Fairness Is in Eyes of Beholder
As a hearing-impaired person, I could write pages in rebuttal to statements made by Bob Arnhym and Earline Jones of the Miss Anaheim Scholarship Pageant in their denial of an interpreter for deaf contestant Lynn Lochrie.
Suffice it to say, however, that Arnhym confirms his supreme ignorance of the situation when he supports his position with the statement:
“The intent at this moment in time is that all contestants must be on an equal footing.” An interpreter is the means to assure deaf and hearing persons equal footing.
