Alaska Air Group Inc.: The parent of Alaska Airlines reported that its first-quarter loss quintupled to $10 million from a $2.1-million loss in the 1990 quarter. Sales rose 7% to $246.7 million. The Seattle-based carrier said industry fare discounting kept revenue down while aircraft maintenance, rental, interest and wage expenses grew.
