BASEBALL DAILY REPORT : AROUND THE MAJOR LEAGUES : Rickey Henderson Put on Disabled List
Oakland’s Rickey Henderson was placed on the 15-day disabled list retroactive to April 12 before the Athletics’ game against the Seattle Mariners Sunday.
Henderson, two steals away from breaking Lou Brock’s all-time stolen base record, has sat out nine games because of a strained left calf muscle. He is eligible to come off the disabled list Saturday.
The Athletics recalled outfielder Brad Komminsk from triple-A Tacoma. Komminsk started Sunday in right field.
Milwaukee’s Paul Molitor suffered an injured right thigh in his first start of the season at first base and his status is day-to-day.
Molitor suffered an injured right quadricep at second base after hitting a double against the Toronto Blue Jays.
