Santa Fe Pacific Corp.: The railroad, pipeline and minerals company reported a first-quarter profit of $17.3 million, contrasted with a loss of $61.4 million in the 1990 quarter. Revenue fell 8% to $564.7 million. The Schaumburg, Ill., firm said cost cutting was responsible for much of the improvement.
