Mine Blast Causes 1st U.S. Casualties in Aid Mission

ANKARA, Turkey —
A U.S. soldier lost a foot when he trod on a mine near a refugee camp on the Iraqi-Turkish border, a U.S. military spokesman said Tuesday.
The explosion caused the first casualties suffered by U.S. forces engaged in Operation Provide Comfort, the mission to help about half a million mainly Kurdish refugees on the Turkish border.
