Du Pont Co.: The chemicals and energy company said its first-quarter income fell 4% to $590 million. Sales were up 3% to $9.7 billion. Wilmington, Del.-based Du Pont said the poor economy led to earnings declines in all its divisions except petroleum, where profit jumped 63%.
