$234,276 in Olympics Funds Go to Youth Groups

The philanthropic foundation that distributes surplus funds from the 1984 Olympics to Southern California youth sports projects authorized $234,276 in grants for 16 Southland organizations Wednesday, bringing to $19.2 million the total of grants it has made since 1985.

Largest of the new grants was $65,276 to the program Reviving Baseball in Inner-Cities, headquartered at Rancho Cienega Park in Los Angeles. The program serves 600 youngsters. Another $99,445 in grants went to several Orange County projects.

Other Los Angeles-area grants by the Amateur Athletic Foundation of Los Angeles included $5,000 each to the B-Ball Assn. of Compton, Carson and Long Beach, Little League Baseball District 38 in Long Beach, the Newton Boosters Assn. of Los Angeles, the Rowland Little League in La Peunte and the Tujunga Little League in Sun Valley. The foundation solicits such organizations to apply for future grants.
