The Camerata Announces Its Season

The Mozart Camerata has announced a five-concert season of programs to be offered both at the Irvine Barclay Theatre and St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church in Newport Beach.

Soloists will include pianist-violinist Corey Cerovsek and violinist Sergiu Schwartz, each of whom will be making his third appearance with the 11-year-old chamber orchestra. The season also will feature orchestrations by Camerata music director Ami Porat of quartets by Mozart and Juan Crisostomo Arriaga.

The schedule:

* Nov. 1 at the Irvine Barclay; Nov. 2 at St. Andrew’s: Karl Ditters von Dittersdorf’s Allegro for strings; Mozart’s Horn Concerto No. 4 with soloist Steve Becknell; Johann Vanhal’s Symphony in A minor; Haydn’s Symphony No. 43, “Mercury.” Becknell is a member of the Camerata.

* Dec. 5 at the Irvine Barclay; Dec. 7 at St. Andrew’s: Mozart program including the Violin Concerto No. 1, K. 207, with soloist Dorota Anderszewska; Symphony No. 25, K. 183; String Quartet in B-flat, K. 159, orchestrated by Porat. Anderszewska is a member of the Camerata.

* Feb. 7, 1992 at Irvine; Feb. 8 at St. Andrew’s: Franz Xaver Mozart’s Piano Concerto in E-flat; W.A. Mozart’s Violin Concerto No. 5, K. 219, and Symphony No. 35, “Haffner.” Corey Cerovsek will be soloist in both concertos.

* April 3 at Irvine, April 4 at St. Andrew’s: Mozart’s Divertimento in D, K. 136; Mendelssohn’s Symphony No. 7 for String Orchestra; Rossini’s Sonata No. 4 for Strings; Juan Crisostomo Arriaga’s Quartet in E-flat, orchestrated by Porat.

* May 15 at Irvine, May 16 at St. Andrew’s: Beethoven program including the “Prometheus” Overture; Violin Concerto, with soloist Sergiu Schwartz; Symphony No. 4.

Concerts at the Irvine theater will begin at 8:30 p.m. Concerts at St. Andrew’s will begin at 8 p.m.
