Investor Raises His Stake in California Amplifier

A Colorado investor, Charles W. Ergen, raised his stake in California Amplifier Inc. to 5.4% of the Camarillo company’s stock from 3.1%.

Ergen, president of Echosphere Corp. of Englewood, Colo., said in a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission that he bought an additional 102,000 shares of California Amplifier, which makes equipment for satellite communications systems.

Ergen bought the additional stock on the open market between Feb. 21 and April 17 at prices ranging between $1.37 and $1.50 a share, the SEC filing stated. He now owns a total of 240,000 shares of the company.
