Passing the Baton: Los Angeles native David Alan Miller has been named music director of the Albany (N.Y.) Symphony. He will serve as director-designate for the 1991-92 season, moving officially into the post June 1, 1992, for a three-year term. Miller, 30, is associate conductor of the Los Angeles Philharmonic, a position he will leave when his current term expires in June, 1992.
