NEW YORK —
Fewer help-wanted advertisements appeared in newspapers across the country during March, a further indication of an anemic job market, a survey released Thursday showed.
The help-wanted advertising index fell to 94 during March. That was down from 97 in February, 138 in March, 1990, and was the lowest level in nearly eight years. It registered 100 in 1967.
The monthly survey was conducted by the Conference Board, a business research group.
