Ex-Prosecutor Indicted on Cocaine Charges

Share

A former county prosecutor was indicted on federal charges Friday, accused of helping to set up cocaine deals out of his private law office.

Derrick Troy Walker, 31, of Westchester was charged with conspiracy and possession with intent to distribute cocaine in allegedly conspiring with cocaine brokers to coordinate the deals and set prices. Also named in the federal grand jury indictment were Earl Stewart, 50, of Van Nuys, and Ingrid Mellican, who uses the alias Betty Smith.

The indictment alleges that Walker used his Los Angeles office for meetings to coordinate the deals. Walker had worked for the Los Angeles County district attorney’s office between October, 1987, and July, 1988, but was fired before his probationary period expired and was working as a private defense attorney at the time the alleged deals were brokered.
