PLATFORM : Going Downtown

I was truly surprised that the meeting was so poorly attended, especially by the people who are most victimized (by police brutality). The community is up in arms over the issue, this is the commission that is going to look into it and this was an opportunity to address it, even if the commission is flawed.

I know people may not have cars, but there is the bus and car-pooling. Organizations could have hired buses. We have to help people find out there is a larger world and they have a part in it. People need to know they can go downtown into the lofty towers and successfully navigate.

People should not only have gone to the meeting downtown, but they should go to the East L.A. and Pacoima meetings, maybe not en masse, but certainly there should be some representation, if for nothing else, just to make sure you know what’s going on.
