Michelangelo for Sale: The first public bidding for a canvas by Michelangelo is scheduled for June 7 in Switzerland when “Il Vero Riscatto” (The True Redemption) goes on the block. An official at the auction house in the town of Lyss said he could not estimate how much the painting may bring, but a reserve price of $2.4 million has been set, meaning the painting will remain unsold if bidding does not reach that minimum. The painting depicts Jesus’ agony and comes with a record of its owners dating to 1522. The seller lives in Switzerland, but the name was not revealed.
