Polaroid Corp. said its board elected I. MacAllister Booth, president and chief executive, to the additional post of chairman. Booth, 59, succeeds William McCune Jr., who retired. McCune, 75, started as a quality control worker in 1939, then worked directly with Polaroid founder Edwin Land on the original Land camera. He became chief executive of the Cambridge, Mass.-based firm in 1980 and chairman two years later.
