A broken sprinkler head caused flooding that damaged two floors of the Century City Bullock’s store early Friday, but the store was able to open for business.

Damage to the store, at 10250 Santa Monica Blvd., was estimated at $66,000, city Fire Department spokesman Greg Acevedo said. Firefighters worked for 2 1/2 hours, using vacuum equipment, to suck up the water, which leaked for an unknown period of time before it was discovered at 2:30 a.m.

The flooding began on the third floor, where there was an inch of water in a 200-foot by 50-foot area, Fire Department spokesman Jim Wells said. An inch of water also was reported in spots on the second floor, Wells said.
