Duarte : Increase in Property Tax
The City Council on Tuesday gave tentative approval to a property tax increase for city landscaping and lighting maintenance.
The proposed tax increase for residential property will be based on lot size and lighting levels. The average increase for a single-family home will be $6.90, raising the average tax from $73.61 to $80.51.
The proposed increase is expected to raise $36,631 a year for parks, irrigation, traffic signals and landscaping and lighting of streets, according to Don Pruyn, Duarte director of community services. The council will make its final decision after a public hearing, set for May 28.
